2 fifteen foot rows of yellow squash is PLENTY for one household.  In fact, you may end up with so much yellow squash that you just plain don’t know what to do with it, your freezer may be full, you may spend hours of desperation thinking of new and fun ways to cook and store yellow squash, you may have a sore back from all of that yellow squash carrying.  hey,  just plant a little ok?  OK?

So yesterday was a quite exciting day in the garden, my first harvest.

firstveggies.jpg

If you have your first harvest I would remember the following points.

A. if you are by yourself there is no need to cut up and fry your entire first zuchini because, well you are just going to waste it, and then feel guilty to throw it away- whilst becoming angry at the flies who are the only ones left with any belly to try to finish those delicious golden rounds you toiled to make.

B. attempting to “fry” your first zuchini on the George Forman is not a good idea, not a good idea at all.

C. if you overcook both your first green beans and your first peas it could be a traumatic experience so pay attention to what in the heck your are doing for heaven’s sake please just pay attention.

purdy rose

June 27, 2007

I got a miniature rosebush from Grandma’s visitation and after almost killing the dang thing because it was too cold, I got it planted and its really starting to flourish.  its my first (I am sure of many) successful rose endeavors so I thought I would share a picture of the first bloom.  not too bad for the canon pos.

hoemastress

June 20, 2007

I am a hoemastress to the extreme in the not so much flooze way but in the master of the art of taking hoe to weeds in garden way.

you should have seen my skills last night.  If I was in better shape I probably wouldn’t have almost had a heart attack right there but I got the job done either way.

whilst i hit the hoe hard, kelly made me a

from the torture of the daily fear of becoming some big eared baffoon’s midnight snack.

So I already have my first mosquito bites of the season.  I know, I know, I am lucky its been this long, but you see, I will sacrifice pleasant smell and taste for the security and peace of mind that comes with a good dose of deet.  Living on the edge I suppose I decided to go deet free last night when I was working with the flovies and now I am paying for it.

Most of the flowers I am going to deal with this year are in their permanent homes.  It makes me feel oh so pretty to sit on what is the equivalent of a porch on the front of the double wide and look at them.
