So Grandpa and I went to see the tree in the middle of the road on Sunday.  Its a great ol tree and I like to go see it.  Here is Grandpa standing next to it:

It is actually a part of my family lore.  It was my Grandpa’s great great uncle, who was using a cottonwood stick as a cane as he was marking the mile sections for the roads that were to come a few years later.  Running out of markers he used his makeshift cane which took root and when they came to put in the roads years later, there stood the tree, and there it still stands.  I love that story.  Here is Grandpa and I trying to move it:

its an addiction

May 18, 2007

I have an addiction to bravo tv reality shows.  its serious and i think i might need mental help.  work out doesn’t really do anything for me, but there is something about the show top chef that makes me happy to be a lazy consumer and just sit on my couch for an hour and enjoy the reality show buzz.  mmmmm, top chef.  almost as wonderful as iron chef but i’ll save that for another day.  as of late I have enjoyed my time with shear genius.  its a pretty good show other than the fact that every time you see jacqueline smith you just can’t help wondering how in the world she got the gig, what is the world is she doing in my sightline.  top chef, top design, these judges are actually very talented peoples in the respective fields - jackie, who’s hair have you cut eh? WHOSE??? plus you’ve been wearing the same hairstyle since before I was born and you know what, i am almost 30 freakin years old.  Jackie, work with me, live on the edge a little bit.  get DOWN from that high horse, DOwn sally,  Hee haw.  LIve with the heathens where there are scary things like grocery shopping and bad hair days.  yep, i said it BAD HAIR dAYS.  hourly pay OH MY LORD.

oh no. i think i just realized i have poisen ivy.  i wonder if steriod nasal spray will work on it.  should i try , should i should i? why not.

i think i should also mention while on the subject of television that deadliest catch is one of the greatest television shows of all time.  thats right all time.

go sig

the new guy is pretty cute but he just doesn’t do it for me like sig

I also can’t help but like the time bandit.  did anyone see when they pulled that guy out of the water after he went overboard from another boat.  intensity in ten cities man. unreal.

mmmm, deadliest catch.

cut the cord

May 18, 2007

so I set a quit date for the whole smoking habit.  I am not sure I have the constitution to accomplish such a feat but I think I will give it an honest go.  I got a rx for Chantix, I have heard some great things about it.  Costs an arm and a legg but the ol workplace stop smoking initiative will pay for the first three months if I actually enroll in a stop smoking program which involves talking to quit coaches and other fun stuff.  I say what the h, why not.  I’ll tell any fellow bar patron intimate details  of my life on any libated afternoon so why not talk to some chain smoking quit counselor, at least they can relate.  So, after June 4 (providing I get the drugs in time that I will have been taking them for a week or so) I will let you know if I have thoughts of scratching my face or anything.  I know the worst will be the first smokeless night at Shorts, if I can do it once though, I may be able to do it twice, and maybe three times and so on and so forth.

well, its like a graduation, or maybe turning over a new leaf, or maybe you just wiped with that leaf so you don’t have much choice but to look at it or turn it over.

either way, i have my own domain.  thats right ladies and gentlemens, i am now a member of the cyber space martian coalition.

hmmmm

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Temperatures and precipitation in the Midwest have an equal chance of being above or below normal in June, the National Weather Service said in its latest monthly forecast released on Thursday.

I wonder how much you get paid to come up with good stuff like that.

pocket full of nickels

hey, not too shabby

lets try

the bean

May 17, 2007

so, I got this bean.

see,

and well, I am really thinking it could change my life.  At the least I am prepared to put so much faith in its abilities to “hone” and “tone” me that if IT fails miserably I will know exactly who or WHAT to blame.

I’ll note how it goes.  I actually like it so far.  I know it must be doing something because of how uncomfortable and sore I have been for two weeks.

So I already have my first mosquito bites of the season.  I know, I know, I am lucky its been this long, but you see, I will sacrifice pleasant smell and taste for the security and peace of mind that comes with a good dose of deet.  Living on the edge I suppose I decided to go deet free last night when I was working with the flovies and now I am paying for it.

Most of the flowers I am going to deal with this year are in their permanent homes.  It makes me feel oh so pretty to sit on what is the equivalent of a porch on the front of the double wide and look at them.
